Rent or Setup My Own Craigslist Proxy?

February 16, 2009 by craigslistproxy

When it comes to a Craigslist proxy, you can get one via two main methods. Via renting or just by setting it up yourself. So when should you rent and when should you setup one? If you find yourself needing a lot of IPs to post a lot of ads on Craigslist each day, you should probably consider creating your own server. Just how much is a lot? Posting anywhere above 30 ads a day, would mean that I would consider setting up my own. Less than this and you should be ok with renting IPs from someone else. Renting IPs from other people is fine, but usually they come at a much higher price compared to setting up your own. If you need to post a lot of ads on Craigslist, look at investing into your own Craigslist proxy instead of renting from someone else. You will save a bundle of money.

Craigslist Tracking Craigslist Proxy Activity?

February 10, 2009 by craigslistproxy

Do you post on Craigslist via a Craigslist Proxy? If yes, does Craigslist know just what you are up to? The answer to this is in how anonymous your Craigslist Proxy is. If you are using an exclusive or proxy server for Craigslist that you setup yourself and are the only one with access, it should be safe to say that Craigslist is in the dark about your activities. However, if you use a free proxy or some common use proxy shared by many people, you aren’t as lucky. Free or shared proxy servers typically perform poorly when compared with elite or exclusive proxy servers. The main reason is due to their how anonymous they are and that elite proxy servers typically can not be detetected as a proxy server. The other problem is that shared proxy servers might have many people doing the same thing with the allocated proxy IPs. It isn’t a great idea to share IPs with other people who might be doing the samething as you on Craigslist, right? Obviously not. If you are using an elite Craigslist Proxy then you should be safe and anonymous on Craigslist.

Does a Craigslist Proxy Cause Ad Flagging?

January 10, 2009 by craigslistproxy

Never seem to be able to post an ad on Craigslist without it being flagged? A lot of people seem to think that ads are flagged due to some IP or proxy reason.. Usually this isn’t the problem.

Craigslist users flag ads, not Craigslist itself. Your ad is being flagged for one of several reasons:

A. What you are posting on Craigslist is spam or perceived as spam. In terms of content, posting frequency or posting locations.

B. A competitor has spotted your ads and has decided to flag you down to stop you selling and make it easier for them. All they need to do is flag your ads or get someone else to do it. There are actually groups of people who get together and do this.

Most of the time the reason your ad was flagged was because one of the above happened. It usually is not due to your Craigslist proxy.

Password Protection Needed For Craigslist Proxy?

January 9, 2009 by craigslistproxy

Thinking about setting up a Craigslist Proxy and curious about why or if a password is really needed to access it?. No-one likes to constantly have to enter passwords repeatedly but don’t neglect them as they are essential. Due to the nature of the internet, all someone needs to know is the IP address of your proxy server and they can have complete access.. Don’t be fooled by thinking that just because there are so many other computers and IPs on the internet that the chances of finding your proxy server are zero. In this day and age there are a multitude of tools that can make IP scanning a very simple process and allow someone to scan thousands and thousands of IPs in a very short time. Due to this you should never setup a proxy server that doesn’t use a password. If someone else gains access to your proxy server then you can be held liable for any damages that they do through the use of it. Instead of not using a password, look to use software the can save usernames and passwords for the IP ports on your proxy to save time. These software programs still allow you to save time by not having to type passwords and agand again but allow you to keep the level of safety that your Craigslist Proxy requires.

Craigslist Proxy – Can’t Get Ads On Craigslist

January 7, 2009 by craigslistproxy

Ads won’t show up on Craigslist? Can’t figure it out? There are a number of reasons why you might be having problems getting ads to stick on Craigslist. These tips should help you to get your ads to stick.

First, don’t use words that you think might not be suitable for the category. When putting ads in the for sale area, don’t post ads which aren’t about items for sale. Craigslist utilizes advanced word and phrase filters to stop people putting ads in inappropriate sections. Each section on Craigslist is different and most likely uses a different set of filters. Second, avoid using any special html codes outside of what Craigslist supports. Craigslist lists on their site which html codes they permit and using unsupported codes may mean your ads are blocked. Third, limit the number of posts you make per day per IP. Ideally you want to post no more than 1 ad per IP each day. Doing anymore than this will work, but posting an excessive amount of ads increases the chances that you will be flagged. Finally, try to not use html imags. Some section do permit the use of html images but posting images still increases the chance your ad will be blocked. Many sections do not permit images and posting ads with images will result in an immediate ban.

Posting ads on Craigslist can be troublesome, but by following the above tips you should reduce the amount of trouble. You may also consider looking into a Craigslist proxy to improve the rate of your ads going live.

How Can I Get Different IPs On My Craigslist Proxy?

December 29, 2008 by craigslistproxy

Do you own or will you be setting up a Craigslist Proxy soon? If so make sure you get IPs from as many different C class IP ranges as possible. It isn’t a topic that is discussed often, but if you post any quantity of ads on Craigslist without using different C class IP ranges you are potentially making it very easy for Craigslist to track your activities.

IPs are seperated into four ranges, A B C and D. By using ranges we are able to log network IDs and network activity. Everyone on the internet is assigned an IP which is used to identify them while they are online. The most common method used to change your IP is by reconnecting to the internet, but usually the new IP you are assigned is within the same range. This allows companies and other people to more easily identify your activities as even after changing your IP, it has not been changed to the extent that they are unable to make any connection between your old and new IP. It is more than possible that this is exactly what Craigslist uses as part of their system to filter out spam. If you wish to remain anonymous to Craigslist then C class IP ranges for your proxy server should help you to do so.

As previously mentioned, using IPs in the same C class IP range may make it possible for Craigslist to detect your activity even though you could be using several different accounts (since your new IP isn’t varied enough from the old one to make you look like a completely different user). Be sure that your proxy server is able to get IPs from different C class IP ranges to help avoid this problem. Usually, IPs that are assigned to proxy servers are normally within the same C class range, this is something you should try to avoid. Anonymity is very important for anyone posting on Craigslist, be sure to ask about getting IPs on your Craigslist Proxy from different ranges.

How Many IPs Should I Get On My Craigslist Server?

December 28, 2008 by craigslistproxy

The exact number of IPs you should get with your proxy is dependant on a few factors. The first is what kind of budget do you have to spend on your proxy server and secondly what quantity of ads are you lookg to post daily. Having a few IPs quite obviously means you will be restricted in the amount of ads you can post safely. If you want to post a lot of ads buy as many IPs as your budget will allow you. Are you just going to post one or two ads on Craigslist a day? Or do you need to get hundreds of ads up? If you are just looking to post a few ads then you should be fine with just one IP on your proxy server. Anymore than this would be a waste of money and resources. However, if you are looking to post 100 ads or higher then you will need to invest in at least 5 to 10 IPs to start with. Generally speaking, for every IP that you have on your proxy server you can post approximately 10 ads. This will allow you to easily and quickly evaluate if you have enough or not enough IPs on your Craigslist proxy to fullfil your posting needs.

Do Webproxies Work As A Craigslist Proxy?

December 27, 2008 by craigslistproxy

The most common type of proxy is a webproxy. There is a common belief held by many that a webproxy is suitable to be used as a Craigslist proxy. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The main problem with webproxies is their lack of anonymity. If you want to be able to post advertisements on Craigslist with as little trouble as possible then this is something you need to pay attention to. Web proxies reveal their true nature to anyone that inspects the IP. Since they do not attempt to hide or conceal the fact that they are web proxies, it is very easy for websites such as Craigslist to detect web proxies and ban any ads coming from them. Webproxies are easy to setup and usually free making people believe that they are a good and plentiful solution to post ads with on Craigslist. This obviously doesn’t work and they quickly become frustrated. For those wanting to post ads to Craigslist you will need to dig into your pockets and invest in your very own Craigslist proxy.

With the IP from your Craigslist proxy, just load up any internet web browsing application such as Firefox and place the IP into its settings.

Craigslist Proxy

December 26, 2008 by craigslistproxy

Having trouble gettings your posts on Craigslist? This typically stems from one reason for this and that is why you more than likely will need a Craigslist proxy to help you post ads. Craigslist has a different website, one for each country. If you live outside of the country you wish to post on you will never see your ad. Craigslist does this to reduce the amount of spam from people in other countries. What would make people want to post advertisements on countries they don’t live in? The main reason stems from the amount of traffic some countries generate compared to others, such as China vs the USA. The work around for this problem is through the use of a proxy. However, not just any proxy will work. The reason why free proxies usually fail is because Craigslist is aware of and knows how to detect these free proxies. All they need to do then is automatically remove any advertisements that come from these free proxies. Furthermore, free proxies are a bad idea because they are more often than not extremely slow. Free proxies usually are overloaded with people because it is free. Too many people results in a slow proxy which causes all of your internet surfing to take much longer than it should. Anyone who wishes to try and post classified ads on Craigslist look at investing in a Craigslist proxy that you are the only one with access to.
